Whatever You Do, Hold Those Whoppers

I’ve been on a lot of diets, maybe you have been, too.

Most required that I fill out a daily food log, perhaps you have also had some experience with those.

As you know if you have, the point of these food logs is that you can see what you might not have noticed you have been doing, get honest about it and then, you can make changes.

Excellent plan.  Straightforward.

Be aware, be honest, change.

Then why was I going backwards?  Why was I becoming enlightened, and regaining weight?

If this has happened to you, you already know what my problem was…  I wasn’t being really honest with myself.

As it turns out, I was telling myself some whoppers, but in my defense-and you may understand this if you have been down and back up the scale as many times as I had been -it made sense to me at the time.

You, too, may have said something to yourself along the lines of “my problem is I just can’t stop eating.” “I’ll eat anything.”

If you have, and if you are telling yourself these things because you care, and you know that being honest with yourself is the best way to help yourself, that’s great, and I am really glad to hear that you feel that way.

Because if you care (and even though I don’t know you what I know for sure about you is that you care, after all it’s why you eat when you’re hungry and when you’re not) and you want to be honest with yourself – because you know that’s the only way to change – you’ll stop feeding yourself those whoppers.

In my personal and professional experience, there are many more where those come from, and they do all add up.

The truth is, isn’t it, that you ALWAYS stop eating.

That no matter the circumstances, there has always been and there will always be a limit to how much you will eat.

If we’re being honest, isn’t there always more that you could eat, but don’t?

And while we’re on the subject of the truth about you, is there really nothing that you won’t eat?

(Who wouldn’t feel guilty, what with all the charges being pressed and proved.)

Be aware, be honest – i.e. get an Food Log (Not) and write down all that you’re not eating, all the food you’re passing by and leaving behind - and un-change your way to change.

You know I’d love to hear some of the things that you put in your Food Log (Not).

And if you feel like someone else might enjoy some refreshing honesty about themselves, please pass this along.  Much appreciated!

Amen, the worst night I had in my life was after I had a double Whopper with cheese. ;-) Don’t do it. It was 10 years ago for me and I am still freaked out!
