Why do we keep track of all of the food that we ate that we feel like we “shouldn’t have” when we know that what we focus on, we get more of?
The stuff we write down in those Food Logs holds us back. Makes us feel like we need to be saved from ourselves. Like if we’re ever left to our own devices, we’ll be out of control.
If you’ve ever used one and you’ve felt like that, it’s because they marginalize and undermine and distance you from the truth about you.
Fun times.
If what you want is more Food Leaving, (thank you to the Effindiets client who coined this so appropriate description), then consider keeping an UnFood Log.
This is a log where you keep meticulous track of all of the food that you could have eaten, but that you didn’t.
(Well, not meticulous track. I imagine that you don’t have the kind of time it would take to keep account of all of the food you are leaving.)
Because the truth about you – whether you are ready to confront it or not
– is that you are a Food Leaver.
I am calling you names without fear of being sued for defamation because it is no exaggeration to say you are always leaving food.
Whether you’ve left it on your plate, or whether it’s additional food that you could have ordered at the restaurant that you didn’t, or food you left on the stove or in the refrigerator or in the cupboards or in the stores…
If I had a hidden camera following you around, I could for sure expose you for the Food Leaver that you are.
I would catch all those times that you’re leaving food and not even blinking an eye about it.
You do it without fail every day.
And you have been like this forever.
(Don’t fret, when it comes to your leaving food habit , you really can’t help yourself. It’s just your way… it’s innate. You’re going to do it no matter what, better if you can manage to find a way to just face the Food Leaver in you.)
You’ve left food when you’re feeling bad. You’ve left food when you’re feeling good. You’ve left food that you say you love. You’ve left food when no one was going to see you eat it. You’ve left food for no other reason than you just didn’t feel like eating anymore.
You leave calories here, there, and everywhere. All. day. long.
(And let me guess, you probably don’t even consider setting your alarm to get up in the middle of the night to eat when you’d be able to focus on just eating. Uh huh. You Calorie Leaver you.)
It’s you seeing the truth stacked up against your self-imposed charge that “all I ever seem to do is eat, I never stop eating, I can’t be around certain foods or I’ll turn into a mad woman” that will help you start letting yourself off that hook you’ve got yourself on, and start making your way out of the weigh-in. (Infinitely harder to do when you’re stuck on a hook.)
(By the way… you are mad if you don’t think that until I check out of here, I’ll keep calling you on the stories you’re telling yourself. And then depending upon how they’ve got things scheduled in the afterlife, I’d consider haunting you about it if I get wind of it.)
It’s just not right.
If you’re up for getting a glimpse into the truth about you and how many calories you aren’t eating that you could be, come join us over on the Effindiets Facebook Wall for an UnFood Log Fiesta… I’ll be hosting it for the next couple of days.
The writing about you is already on the wall. Wanna see?
And then you can keep your party going as long as you’d like by filling up the paper shelving of your UnFood Log with all that you don’t eat.
As long as it’s not in invisible ink. When you can see it in black and white, what you don’t eat will keep adding up, too.
It’s something o’clock. Do you know what you haven’t eaten, that you could have?
